The Victoria Historical Society's meeting for Thursday, January 26, 2006 features guest speaker Susan Mayse, an award-winning author, will speak on "The Inside Story of the Union Club". The meeting will be at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street at 7:30pm. Visitors are welcome.

The Victoria Historical Society will hold its Christmas Dinner at the Gorge Vale Golf Club, 1005 Craigflower Rd. Social hour at 6:00pm; dinner at 6:30pm. Guest speaker Ron Greene, historian and author, will give an illustrated talk on colonial Victoria entitled "Delectus Victorianus". Members and guests are welcome. Cost for dinner is $25 per person. The Archives Association of British Columbia announced its Web site for Archives Week 2005 between November 19 and 26. The theme this year is Remembering: The Year of the Veteran.

The meeting will be at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street at 7:30pm. Visitors are welcome.

On Sunday, October 23, 2005, the Friends of the BC Archives guest speakers will be the long-standing host of CBC Radio One's B.C. Almanac program, Mark Forsythe, and Greg Dickson, the director of B.C. Almanac, who will talk about their "Book of Great British Columbians". The talk will be held in the Newcombe Conference Hall at 2:45 pm, Royal BC Museum, 675 Belleville St., Victoria, following the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the BC Archives which starts at 2 pm.
