Victoria Historical Society October 27 meeting

The Victoria Historical Society's meeting for Thursday, October 27, 2005 features guest speaker Dr. Vernon Storey, UVIC Professor of Education and author, speak on "A Woman in the School: The Story of Dr. Henrietta Anderson". The meeting will be at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street at 7:30pm. Visitors are welcome.

The meeting will be at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street at 7:30pm. Visitors are welcome.
Hallmark Society (Victoria) September 19 meeting

The Hallmark Society (Victoria) meeting on Monday, September 19, 2005 features guest speaker Dr. Larry McCann, Professor of Geography at the University of Victoria. He will present an illustrated lecture on "The Uplands: Victoria's Celebrated Residential Park". The meeting will be at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street at 7:30pm. Admission by donation.

Friends of the B.C. Archives Lecture, Sept 18, 2005

On Sunday, September 18, 2005, the Friends of the BC Archives speaker will be the noted historian Sylvia van Kirk who will talk about "The Cridge Connection: Exploring the Early Social History of Church of Our Lord". The talk will be held in the Newcombe Conference Hall at 2 pm, Royal BC Museum, 675 Belleville St., Victoria, and there may be a visit to the church after the presentation.

This event is free for Friends of the Archives, $5.00 for non-members, payable at the door. Call in advance for information about handicap access.

Consultations on 150th anniversary of founding of BC

The Heritage Branch, Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts, is seeking community, local government and specialist input into a plan coordinated by Stuart Culbertson (TkMC - Turnkey Management Consulting) through the branch to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of British Columbia in 2008 and the 200th anniversary of the explorations of David Thompson (1808). The invitation and background information is available on the Archives Assoication of British Columbia Web site.
